A Hidden Gem in Saint-Émilion
Since 2004, Griet and Hervé Laviale-Van Malderen have lovingly restored Château Franc Mayne, an 18th-century estate nestled in the heart of Saint-Émilion. With guidance from renowned oenologist Michel Rolland, they’ve modernized the winemaking facilities to honor the unique terroir—comprising clay-limestone, clay-sand, and the iconic Saint-Émilion limestone plateau.
Beneath the vines lies a spectacular 2-hectare stone quarry, part of a vast network of underground tunnels, now beautifully lit and used for barrel aging—a truly unforgettable feature of the estate.
