Les Sources de Caudalie

In 1990, during a flight over Bordeaux vineyards, Florence and Daniel Cathiard fell in love with Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a historic 18th-century estate. Leaving behind their corporate careers, they revived the château and its vineyards with a focus on excellence, sustainability, and tradition.

While restoring the estate, they discovered a 540-meter-deep natural hot spring—the inspiration behind the world’s first Vinothérapie® Spa, founded by their daughter Mathilde Thomas. In 1999, Les Sources de Caudalie, a luxury hotel and spa, was born—blending wine, wellness, and art de vivre.

Les Sources de Caudalie is a 5-star boutique hotel set among the vines, offering:

• 40 rooms and 9 suites, each uniquely designed by Florence and her daughter Alice

• A natural spring-fed Vinothérapie® Spa, using Caudalie products rich in grape polyphenols

Wine & Château

Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Grand Cru Classé de Graves, spans 72 hectares. Known for its elegant reds and aromatic whites, the vineyard uses:

• Barrel aging in a stunning underground cellar
